Mission 02. Waste-Free
BIDE Market was inspired when our founder became baffled by the amount of plastic and unnecessary waste found throughout markets and events in Chicago and around the country. It is no surprise that she made it her mission to make sure BIDE did not contribute to the waste epidemic America is facing today. In order to do that, we have proudly partnered with Wastenot Compost, Chicago’s first zero-emissions compost collection service for homes, businesses, and events.
Composting not only helps brands and residents reduce their negative impact on the planet, but it ultimately saves money and resources. Over 40% of residential waste is compostable, yet more than 20% is sent to the landfill. Making food the largest single source of waste in the U.S. That’s more than plastic or paper combined.
WasteNot implements a specific composting program that suits our needs to ensure maximum landfill diversion and operational efficiency. They have designed us a unique program, that supplies our markets with the necessary receptacles and aid in implementation such as community education.
